This thread is to discuss the article entitled “What percentage of Netflix’s movies were recent titles?” https://vodclickstream.com/what-percentage-of-netflix-movies-are-recent-titles/
This was an interesting piece to research and write as I didn’t know what the results were going to be but when we found them my first thought was “Of course”!
I was a customer of Netflix’s SVOD offering from the moment it launched in the UK and I remember having the sense that they were padding out the catalogue with obscure library titles. I don’t have the data to back this up but certainly the feeling I had was quantity over quality. That’s shifted over the years but it’s hard to get a sense of it as a consumer as we all see just a fraction of the available titles.
The research showing that Netflix wants movies to be either new or good makes perfect sense.
